I’m looking for a dispensing assistant to support the preparation of herbal medicines for clients, as well as wider care packages within the Solidarity Apothecary.
This is a practical, detail-oriented role supporting people accessing herbal care, including those experiencing state violence.
Location: Near Street, Somerset
Hours: Minimum 4 hours per week
Pay: £20/hour
Structure: Freelance / self-employed
Start: As soon as possible
Trial period: 1 month
🌿 The role includes:
- Preparing herbal prescriptions for clients (glycerites, tinctures, tea blends)
- Packaging and posting herbal medicines and care packages
- Medicine making (glycerites, tinctures, infused oils — training provided, experience beneficial)
- Maintaining inventory of the Herb Shed and identifying low stock
- Cleaning and maintaining the dispensary space
- Record keeping in line with GMP systems
🌿 This role would suit someone who:
- Has strong attention to detail and works carefully (particularly when preparing medicines for individual clients)
- Is organised and able to follow systems consistently
- Has a basic foundation in herbal medicine (e.g. familiarity with Latin names and different medicine forms)
- Communicates clearly and reliably
- Is comfortable working independently (you will mostly be working alone)
- Is consistent and dependable
- Shares values with the Solidarity Apothecary, including supporting people experiencing state violence

- Minimum 4 hours per week, with potential to grow
- Hours are flexible, but ideally worked on the same day each week
- A driver may be helpful, but the site is accessible via public transport
