I discovered Rose’s invaluable work a few years ago while very sick, unemployed, and socially and politically isolated. Knowing that someone was dedicating themselves with such clarity and humility to collective healing from state violence and carceral capitalism made me feel supported and held, even though I have not had any personal experience with the prison system. Liberal self-help advice that one stumbles upon online can add to the pain that those of us who are involved in political work frequently experience. The project of Solidarity Apothecary offers a heartening reminder that it is our responsibility to keep each other safe, and that non-sentient beings are our allies in this praxis.
